Breaking: Govt Revises Salary and Allowances Rules for PFRDA Officers
The Ministry of Finance (Department of Financial Services) in powers given by Section 51 (2) and clause (a) read of Section 5 (3) of the Pension Fund Development Authority Act, 2013 (23).
The Central Government makes the following rules further to change the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (Salary and Allowances Payable to and other Terms and Conditions of Services of chairperson and Whole-time Members) Rules, 2014-
1. (1) These rules will be known as the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (Salary and Allowances Payable to and other Terms and conditions of services of, chairperson and whole-time members) Amendment Rules, 2025.
(2) They will come into effect on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (Salary and Allowances Payable to, and Other Terms and Conditions of Service of Chairperson and Whole-time Members) Rules, 2014, (hereafter referred to as the said rules) in rule 5, –
(a) The following sub-rules will be replaced for sub-rules (1) and (2):
“(1) The Chairperson will have an option to receive pay as admissible to a Secretary to the Government of India or a consolidated salary of Rs. 562,500 per month without the facility of a house and car.
(2) Every whole-time member will have an option to receive pay as admissible to an Additional Secretary to the Government of India or a consolidated salary of Rs 5,00,000 per month without the facility of a house and car.”
(b) The following sub-rule will be replaced after sub-rule (2):
“(3) In the case of an appointment of a person as the Chairperson or a full-time member, they shall have an option to receive pay as admissible to a Secretary or Additional Secretary to the Government of India, respectively, who has retired from service under the Central Government or the State Government, as the case may be, and who is in receipt of, or has received, or has become entitled to receive any retirement benefits by way of pension, gratuity, the employer’s contribution to the Contributory Provident Fund or other Funds or retirement benefits, the pay and allowances of such Chairperson or member shall be reduced by the gross amount of pension and pension equivalent of gratuity or employer’s contribution to the Contributory Provident Fund or any other form of retirement benefits, if any, drawn or to be drawn by him.”
3. The following rules will be replaced after rule 5:
“5A. Dearness allowance. -The Chairperson or a whole-time member who has opted to pay as admissible to a Secretary or Additional Secretary to the Government of India, respectively, will receive dearness allowance at the rates admissible to a Group ‘A’ Officer of the Central Government.”
4. The following rules will be replaced after rule 6:
“6A. (1) In case the Chairperson or a full-time member opts for the Central Government pay structure, it may be confirmed from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs whether General Pool Residential Accommodation may be provided and in case of non-allotment of General Pool Residential Accommodation, the HRA may be granted as per extant instructions issued by the Central Government in this behalf.
(2) Charges for water, electricity and fuel consumed in the house will be borne by the occupant of the house.
(3) Nothing in this rule will apply to the Chairperson and a whole-time member who has opted a consolidated salary”.
