CBDT Grants Tax Exemption To Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission U/s 10 of Income-tax Act
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the Ministry of Finance recently issued a notification to the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission on January 6, 2026 regarding income tax exemption.
The Central Government, in powers given by Section 10 (b) and clause (46A) of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43), notifies the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the State of Goa and Union Territories except Delhi for income tax exemption.
This notification will be effective from the AY 2024-25, subject to a condition that the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission continues to be an authority constituted under the Electricity Act, 2003 (No.36) with one or more of the purposes specified in sub-clause (a) of clause (46A) of section 10 of the Income-tax Act.
