CBI Registers Two Separate Cases Over Allegation of Corruption in AIIMS Rishikesh

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered two separate cases against the accused including then Additional Professors, then Assistant Professor, then Administrative Officer, then Accounts Officer of AIIMS, Rishikesh(Uttarakhand), Proprietor of private firm based at New Delhi; Private persons; Private firm based at Delhi and unknown others on the allegations of malpractices in the award of Tenders for procurement of Road Sweeping Machine and for setting up of a Chemist Shop inside AIIMS, Rishikesh

The accused Public Servants were also accused of flagrantly violating the Government of India‘s bidding procedures, dishonestly screening out reputable bidders on spurious grounds, and allowing minor enterprises that had misrepresented facts in their tender forms to continue in the running.

It was also claimed that the defendants purposefully ignored the presence of a Cartel in these Tenders. Following that, the accused is accused of causing critical evidence of the crime to vanish. AIIMS allegedly suffered a loss of Rs.2.41 crore (about) in the procurement of a Road Sweeping Machine and Rs.2 crore (approximately) in the award of a tender for the establishment of a Chemist Shop. Today, searches are being carried out in both cases in 24 various areas, including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi.

The investigation is still ongoing.
