CBIC Updates Tariff Values for Oils, Metals & Areca Nuts: No Rate Change

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) under the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has recently issued an official notification [F. No. 467/01/2025-Cus.V], dated September 08, 2025, informing that they have introduced amendments in an earlier notification [No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.)], dated August 03, 2001, of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue).

This action has been taken by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in exercise of its powers granted under sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962). Basically, the new notification replaces Table 1, Table 2, and Table 3 of the earlier notification with new tables and new values in them. These tables contain the tariff values for the purpose of calculating customs duty on certain imported goods.

The original notification [No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.)], dated August 03, 2001, has been several times amended in past. Before the present amendment, the last amendment was done on August 29, 2025, via Notification (No. 52/2025-Customs N.T., S.O. 3959(E)), dated August 29, 2025.
