Income Tax Portal Update: Now You Can Track When AO Viewed Your Submission for Notices
Under the Faceless Assessment System of the Income Tax Department, a new helpful feature has been introduced. Now, the taxpayers can actually see when their submission against Hearing notices is viewed by the Assessing Officer (AO) or the Commissioner of Income Tax or CIT(A). This small update brings greater transparency for the taxpayers.
For instance, if you are responding to a hearing notice under section 250 of the Income Tax Act, 1961, you will now be able to check the exact date when your submission was viewed on the Income Tax Portal by the AO or CIT(A).
The new feature is a welcome step in the faceless regime, which aims to make the faceless assessment smoother, more transparent and taxpayer-friendly. Now, the taxpayers can easily track the status of their submission.
