In India the online gaming industry is rapidly growing, and the number of gamers and the rise of e-sports among the young population are also increasing day by day.

The Government has launched The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 which aims to create a comprehensive legal framework for the online gaming industries such as e-sports, educational games and more.

The main purpose of this Bill is to ban the offering and advertising of of all real money games, including those based on skills, this could result in massive job losses and the closures of many companies.

Companies such as Dream11, Games24x7, Winzo, GamesKraft, 99Games, KheloFantasy, and My11Circle together have created one of the country’s most dynamic consumer-tech sectors and are attracting to make major foreign investments.

The industry holds more than 2,00,000 professionals in high-skill roles such as

Over 400 new startups have entered the industry in recent periods, drawing almost Rs 25,000 crore in foreign direct investment.

Govt. officials alerts that the ban will not only result in massive job losses but could also shake investor confidence in India’s wider digital economy. The gaming sector contributes almost Rs 20,000 crore annually in taxes.

The Industry body stated that on behalf of all other young engineers, entrepreneurs, developers and professionals working in this digital skill gaming industry, we write to you with respect and show concern related to the news report about the draft bill that seeks to ban all real money games, including those based on skill.

They added that many startups and engineers and creators rely on their livelihoods, and this ban would kill their future opportunities. They also requested an urgent meeting with Amit Shah’s office to present their situation and recommend solutions for safeguarding gaming for users.
