ITR Filing 2025: ITR-2 Offline Utility Now Available for Filing for AY 2025-26
The Income Tax Department has officially released the Offline Utility for ITR-2, the Assessment Year (AY) 2025-26. Individuals or Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who are eligible to file ITR-2 can start filing their Income Tax Return (ITR) using the offline utility available on the Income Tax Department’s e-portal. ITR-2 must be filed by individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) if they have income from sources other than business and professional. These income sources include:
- capital gains,
- foreign assets,
- more than one house property,
- salary or pension,
- Shareholding in unlisted companies, or
- Agricultural income more than Rs 5,000.
Individuals should file the ITR based on the sources of their income. Choosing the wrong ITR for filing can attract notices and penalties from the income tax department.
