Massive GST Fraud Worth Rs. 11.9 Crore Exposed! Dept Nabs Man for Fraudulently Claiming ITC

A Man from Ambur on September 13, 2025 (Saturday), has been arrested by the GST Chennai Outer Commissionerate for orchestrating a fraudulent Input Tax Credit (ITC) racket worth 11.90 crore.

GST officials said that the accused arranged several GST registrations using false documents and addresses. An official added, ‘He created dummy firms that issued fraudulent tax invoices without any genuine transactions.’ These invoices were then used by firms to fraudulently claim input tax credit (ITC), with the accused collecting commission from the beneficiaries.

Officials stated that fake involved input tax credit of 11.90 crore on an invoice value of 238 crore. All the businesses that availed themselves of the fraudulent credits have been flagged and action will be taken against them.
